Prior to her work in the Springfield Public Schools, she was the Instructional Technology Specialist at the Lane Education Service District in Eugene, Oregon, where she provided technology staff development for the teachers working in Lane County's 133 public schools. In her work with the Lane ESD, she was involved with multiple grants, including numerous NCLB Title IID: Enhancing Education Through Technology (E2T2) competitive grants and the Technology Literacy Challenge Fund. Her E2T2 work with Bethel, Creswell, Eugene 4J, Mapleton, McKenzie, Oakridge, Siuslaw, South Lane, and Springfield School Districts focused on the use of laptop and handheld technologies to support student learning in core content areas. Outside of the Lane ESD, she was instrumental in the planning and implementation of both the US West/NEA Teacher Network and the Oregon Content Standards and Technology statewide projects.

Aside from her work at the Lane ESD, she was the 2003 program co-chair for the Northwest Council for Computer Education (NCCE) conference and the poster session coordinator for the 2003 National Education Computing Conference (NECC). She served as the ESD representative on NCCE Board from 1998-2002 and has served on the Board of Directors and as President of the Organization for Educational Technology and Curriculum (OETC; formerly the Oregon Educational Technology Consortium) from 1996-2005.

Dr. Lary holds a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Management; her dissertation focused on student and environmental factors and their relationship to student success in online high school courses. She has been a member of the Oregon Online Leaders group and has worked closely with the key players in Oregon’s online high school programs.

On a personal note, Lynn participates each year in volunteer Passport in Time projects with the Forest Service. On her 2006 trip to Garcia Canyon, she took Flat Stanley© along and made a short movie about his adventure (23.9 MB); for additional information, see Flat Stanley© Visits Some Site Stewards in Garcia Canyon (pg 4; PDF file), by Anne Baldwin, Supervisory Archaeologist, Espanola / Coyote Resource Area.
