Women's History Week: This five-month planning process resulted in the bringing together of over 40 women speakers ranging from neurosurgeons to ministers, the landing of a helicopter on campus by a woman Coast Guard pilot, a play focusing on the achievements of early women suffragists, Dress-up Day, an awards ceremony and luncheon for over 200 people with guest speaker Representative Cynthia Wooten. My responsibilities included:

  • Public relations and media liaison including time lines of all activities; we were featured on the local news and in the newspaper.
  • Speaker coordination and verification.
  • Coordination of Dress-up Day; gathered and provided information to staff members to encourage participation.
  • Assisted in the organization of the luncheon and awards ceremony.
  • All computer support, including: schedules and time lines, charts and sign-up sheets, awards and certificates for students and staff members, name badges, personalized speaker-verification postcards, and poster/flyer creation.

Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Accreditation Report: Assisted in writing and organizing the mathematics portion of the report for the mathematics department.

Restructuring Grant: Part of a four-person team providing editorial assistance and feedback to the grant's author.
Shared Decision Making Planning Committee: This was a school wide committee researched, planned, implemented and adjusted policies concerning curriculum, attendance, discipline, etc., and worked to create a positive learning environment. The committee formed and implemented long-range school wide goals including:
  • Attendance/tardy policy
  • Research on why students fail; made suggestions to administration
  • Prioritization of budget concerns
Curriculum Development: Developed materials that incorporated all strands of the California State Mathematics Framework into the Mastery Math course. Rewrote department tests for Algebra I and Geometry to reflect current departmental goals.
