ActivitiesField Trip to Nine Mile CanyonOn the third day, we took an afternoon field trip to the Nine Mile Canyon where we looked at a number of petroglyphs and pictographs. See the photos (Note: they are all on one page and may take a while to load). The Final NightUnknown to PIT volunteers, their leaders had rigged a contest for the week. Crews were actually competing for the best artifacts discovered during the project. PIT members were clued into the contest on the final evening and then voted on which artifacts (and their respective "finders") should receive prizes. Groups put out a biface, some small animal skulls, an arrowhead, a piece of a mano, and small specks of bone. In the end, Sandra from Idaho won both prizes. "Sandra the Sifter" dutifully screened dirt for hours and hours and found an arrowhead as well as a large biface in her sifting screen.
